Full-time Placement: Education Specialist
Description: The Education Specialist (ES) at La Casa is responsible for coordinating all educational services for clients of La Casa. The ES works closely with Dona Ana Community College and their Adult Basic Education Center to connect clients with needed classes such as ESL, GED, Literacy, and other instruction The ES also initiates ESL and GED training and tutoring classes for clients as well as other educational and enrichment opportunities for the shelter. The ES provides job readiness training (hands-on computer skills, resume and interviewing skills) and financial literacy skills (budgeting, saving, debt reduction). The ES also participates in public awareness activities and crisis interventions. Skills and Interests: Education/teacher training, willingness to work with children and adults, organizational skills, self-motivation, interest in family and intimate partner violence issues
Spanish Requirement: Moderate to high fluency preferred, but not required
AmeriCorps Eligibility: Eligible for full-time award
