Full-time Placement: Assistant Teacher / Floater

Description: The Assistant Teacher / Floater at Jardín assists in the planning and implementing of programming and curriculum in the classroom, ensures that the program is geared to the needs of individual children and families, meets the social, emotional, physical and cognitive developmental needs of the children, and assures that the basic needs of the children are met, notifying other staff members if there are concerns that can be addressed through accessing community resources. In addition to being assigned to all Pre-K age groups during the day, the BSC AmeriCorps volunteer assigned to Jardín as a floater is specifically assigned to the after-school program children during the afternoons. Spanish Requirement: Moderate fluency preferred, but not required

Full-time Placement: Community Health Specialist

Description: The Community Health Specialist evaluates children’s health problems to determine if referral to health care agencies or on-site medical care is needed. This position also maintains close connection to the families of the children receiving services at Jardín to provide health teaching and presentations, evaluate health needs of families, enhance relationships to parents, and assist in accessing heal care to address preventative, acute/chronic physical and mental health care needs of parents and children. This volunteer supervises medication administration for the organization and is involved in creating appropriate safety procedures and providing health training/education for children and families as well as staff. Spanish Requirement: Moderate to high fluency preferred, but not required
