Full-time Placement: VAWA Caseworker and Community Educator

Description: The BSC AmeriCorps volunteer assists with the Crime Victims’unit at DMRS, implementing intakes and initial consultations to determine eligibility for visas granted to crime victims, preparing of applications, maintaining files with appropriate reports and documentation for each case, and conducting correspondence with appropriate immigration organization for each case. The VAWA Caseworker also conducts community outreach presentation regarding the benefits and protections available to immigrant crime victims. The BSC AmeriCorps volunteer also is responsible for planning and preparing for citizenship classes conducted on-site for community members. Skills and Interests: Strong communication skills, experience working with the immigrant population, interest in immigration laws and procedures, strong social justice component

Spanish Requirement: Moderate to high fluency

AmeriCorps Eligibility: Eligible for full-time award
