Full-time Placement: Program Assistant, Middle School and High School Outreach Description:
The BSC AmeriCorps volunteer is responsible for planning and scheduling curriculum and activities for youth, as well as implementing these activities including tutoring and recreational or art activities. This volunteer works to recruit community volunteers and leads them in implementing daily activities and tutoring. The volunteer maintains close contact with other programs in the area of a similar scope, looking for ways to maximize impact on the community. The volunteer also works with a Youth Advisory Council to ensure youth participation and develop leadership skills. The volunteer coordinates referrals or community response to the needs of the families involved in the program, and also provides some ESL classes for the community. Skills and Interests: Experience working with children, education/teaching, organizational skills, strong communication skills, recreational programming, strong interest in developing community relationships
Spanish Requirement: Moderate to high fluency required
