Lutheran Leadership

Leaders from the church are encouraged to become more aware and involved in border issues through excursions in the border region, with a specific emphasis on faith, service, and social justice.

The Lutheran Leadership program equips lay and rostered leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) for mission and ministry in the context of the border. Christian ministers walk with Christ on the border and journey back home with training in:

  • Multiculturalism
  • Overcoming poverty
  • Immigration perspectives
  • Partnership development

The Lutheran Leadership program engages people of various cultures and socioeconomic identities, and reflects theologically about the Gospel of Jesus Christ for all God’s people. The program:

  • Increases the presence of Lutheran leaders in the border region.
  • Builds awareness of multicultural and border issues for the ELCA.
  • Encourages the use of Border Servant Corps as a resource to the ELCA regarding border and multicultural issues.
